You'll hear the BOV (properly referred to as the boost recirculation valve) "thunking" only when abruptly on-and-off the throttle...and usually only if the two sealing gaskets at the ends of the piston are worn. For steady state throttle while under motion, BOV's don't make any noise at all.

Mark, I stand corrected... I didn't see his comment about him driving at speed... I just remembered that I'd be at some P-Car event and in my best attempt to be cool... I'd rev her up a tad and that clicking sound would kill what mojo I had going... clicky tap tap.

No problem....I thought you may have missed that point in his description. Unless the description is lacking, would sure hate to have him barking up the wrong tree.

Hey, the ol' BOV knocking is just a trademark noise, after all. Put a loud enough muffler on and you can barely hear it.

I had that same noise last year. Would get worse the faster I went. The tires felt like they were going to come off. I actually bought new tires first. Sound was still there. Then I looked underneath. Yep CV joints. I replaced both shafts completely. Cost me around $700 CDN from PP. Easy to put in. Just some allen keys and a torque wrench. Ride was smooth after that. Had to retighten once bolt a week later.
