Special KKK Turbo on eBay

Ok, here is another special K27 turbocharger carrying the -999- P/N. Maybe someone can place this application....or want to buy it.

I'have already paypal'd for that turbo today, funny it's still posted. I talked to the owner, he was part of the Porsche racing team in the 80's and says numbers 999 mean it was an experimental part. I hope everything is alright! must call him tomorrow. Philip

When you talked with him, did he make any statements of HP? Class 930 was built for? What you should expect on your motor?

May I ask a favor? When you receive this unit post the part number on the turbine housing casting. Also look in the turbine inlet foot and post that number.
Thanks

Phillip j are you sure he didn't return your paypal as it says shipping in the US only.If I were you I would double check because when you hit the buy it now it should have ended right there and then.Something is wrong here......

Yeah, he's right. The deal may have been kicked out. If you need to launder the unit through a US address I'm in Indiana. I can receive it then send on to you. Don't understand the issue of shipping to CDN except maybe scams to retract payment after part is shipped.
BTW, I won't keep your turbo I've got close to 50 already.

Owner emailed me and assured that the part was packaged and he will send me the tracking #. I had worked out a deal for less than the buy it now. He is also trying to figure out how to correct it on ebay. Also he was shipping it to a US boarder point close to the boarder where i live. *** copbait 73 will do! Thanks guys. Philip

I still say something wrong here.If you have sold on ebay you know that it can be edited or ended when the seller desires.Maybe he's just holding out at the chance that someone else might bite.Hope I am wrong on this as I hate seeing good people get burned.Just my .02.

Forget this - get one of Kevins and be done with it. Good luck getting parts for this one -

This turbo has no information on operating parameters. Why would you buy it not knowing what it is used for? Might not boost until 6000rpm and 1.4bar, might peter out at 5000rpm, who knows.

According t the seller it will work well for what I want. Early boost/1-1.2 spring. At the price I paid I think I did well. nothing tried/nothing gained!

Could be he just has more than one to sell. To be true to the rules both "ebay community members can not make deals outside of the auctions terms".

His last feedback as a seller is from 8-09.Not saying scam but more along the lines he's holding out for more cash.If he wanted he would have ended or cancelled the posting and shipped out your turbo today...

Just a word of caution fellow friends, just received a reply from the seller explaining to me no modifications are needed, straight bolt up. Basically
telling me still available, sound like a scam or has more than one to sell
even though he states only one available.
Just be careful of what you may be purchasing........

More words of caution. The compressor housing looks stock so there is no way a larger compressor wheel was installed. Also all the "mods" like 360 degree thrust bearing and "race internals" are nothing special. ALL reputable rebuilders are already doing them as the cost difference is very small.

Thats just not so.

There are turbo shops that have remachined the inside of a K27 compressor housing and backplate to fit the larger K29 compressor wheel or Cummins Holset wheel.

...and from my experience, not all "reputable" turbo builders install 360 degree thrust bearings.

FYI there is no room inside the compressor housing for machining and it would not be where it is needed to accomodate the larger wheel. The only place where machining can occur is where the inlet port is and the ebay pic shows stock inlet port and stock housing.

Here's a couple pics of stock vs upgraded wheels. Notice the difference in the size and shape of the wheels and coincide that with which part of the housing that needed to be machined. If the inlet port is not enlarge it will not accomodate a larger wheel.

Also race internals refer to deburring and machining the inside of the housing to smooth out the air flow. Most shops I know take the time to clean up the internals when doing a rebuilt or upgrade.

Price difference for 360 degree thrust bearing is less than $1 so if your shop does not provide the upgrade I would ask for it.
