964 cam tuning

Hi fellows

I red a few threads, but no clear solution for my question found

I got an 930/67 engine (Euro 3.3 '81) with some mods:

Headersand muffler, K27-7200, B6 965-style IC, IN and EX ports increased, lightweight clutch and flywheel, 1.0bar boost withd Tial WG, BOV 965-style, fuel enrichment over 0.7bar, modified crankcase (bridges rounded), compression ratio 7.7:1, and 964 cams

I adjust timing to 1.26mm now, like SC cams, but I like to improve low, non boost area. So how far can or should I go? I've red, 1.7mm is good, other say 0.8 like stock or SC timing. I know it can vary a lot regarding the engine built, but maybe someone got an similar or at least nearly engine built and can tell me his experiences or advises.

If you need/want further information, please ask

Thanks in advance

Roland

You'll notice that these cams don't have a range to adjust into. This means that 1.26mm is optimum. If you decide to advance the timing, do it in small increments and make sure you check valve to piston clearance each time (10 degrees ATDC, 1mm will suffice).

My advice would be to change something else - like get a flow through muffler (assuming you haven't) or get a different cam. Otherwise, you'll need to change something more radical ($$$$).

No more replies...?

Common guys, that couldn't be all. Am I really the only one with these cams on a 930?
