RarlyL8 Skunkwerks - for those who like it LOUD

I've had a few requests to produce this item pictured but questioned how many might be interested in such a thing. Well I have sold enough mufflers (thank you all and Pelican!) to offer this not only as a stand alone but as an optional long-tube zork to all those who currently have one of my mufflers.

It is a simple muffler bypass; a tube instead of a muffler. Simply take the muffler apart and slide this puppy on. You want a GT3 Zork? No problem. Dual out Zork? Can do. Stock outlet Zork? Only you and the entire neighborhood will know. Can also go out the passenger side if that floats your boat. Makes for a cool 934 look as well with the matching waste gate pipe. Big 'n little flames.

I do have to figure out how to secure the assembly but that shouldn't be a problem.

At a future time, I think I would like to try a dual out without a muffler. I was surprised at how tame the sound of your dual outlets are with the muffler. My Powerhaus seemed louder. The Borla, I just did not like. I would expect the price would be similar to what I paid for the present dual out I am running?

C'mon Stuart, my dual out 4.5" B&B exhaust is fine. I just haven't heard it in 14 months. She comes alive again next week! Loud pipes saves lives.

You can use the bypass pipe with my second generation (modular) muffler so cost is reasonable. I'm hoping to be able to knock off $100 on the complete assemblies that have the bypass pipe in place of the muffler body. It gives folks more choices when it comes to sound level.

Loud!

... but not quite as loud as the short tube zork, as expected. The idea is to give you the a cheap/easy option to run Hooligan on the weekends or at the track. This pipe can be changed out in 15 minutes with the car on the ground and the valance in place. Remove my muffler, bolt up the bypass to the turbo, pop on the U-pipe and tailpipes, clamp it down and go. You can also pop the muffler back on when driving on tracks where you fail the sound restrictions. The pipe is small enough to toss in the trunk and weighs ~3 pounds.

Akila-

I'm highly considering taking off my year-old dual out / snub WG, and swapping in a pass side exit zork / driver side exit WG.

Maybe we could work something out.

Brian, let us know when you have a la carte pricing worked out 8-). I'm in no hurry, car's still of the road for the season - sigh.

For now just knock $100 off the price of any muffler that has the bipass pipe in place of the muffler body. I just need to cover costs on this one. Buying a compelete system with a bypass pipe instead of a muffler seems very pricy as you are left with just tubes but those tubes are expensive. The entire system will weigh less than 10 pounds. You can also add a muffler body at a later date if desired.

Question

Brian,

What is the difference between the larger unit that is packed and the thinner one that is not packed.

I loved how my car sounded when I first received the unit from you... but shortly thereafter the packing burned away in the muffler now it is louder than ever... too loud for my taste. Is this normal and expected? I love the fit, look and finish of the exhaust but was curious as to options?

My thought is that the larger unit with the packing burned away will be almost (very close) as loud as the just the straight tube. Am I correct in this assumption?

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Bryan

Gorgeous car!
The sound deadening material is not supposed to burn out, if it has and you don't like the sound send me the muffler body back and I'll send you a new one.
No the can with no sound deadening material is not as loud as the straight pipe. What you (now) have is the Hooligan version of my muffler. It is a perforated expansion chamber, about 1/3 the sound level of a Zork. On a scale from 1-10 with stock being a 1, the street muffler is a 3 the Hooligan a 5 the bypass 8 and Zork a 10. Harley's are off the chart.

Fortunately this Brian B spells his name with an "i" or we'd really be confused.

Brian,

Does anyone in Honolulu have your turbo exhaust as I'd like to hear one in person. How is it compared to the B&B 4.5" dual out?

Yes, there are a couple in HI, I'll have to dig up the email addresses. If memory serves one of the fellows replaced a B&B with my dual outlet.

I'm hoping they will be laser cut this week. Unfortunately they are not a priority at the machine shop, VERY frustrating.
