The car is not there now. They did all the work on it when I purchased the car from out of state though to get it to pass CO emissions.

Ugh. Sorry to hear. ABout a year ago I took my 944 there(air care off evans) and was waiting in the little glass box when I see the attendant park the front wheels on the rollers and then about to get back in the car.

I ran out, get yelled at a bunch, but the guy finally says ok, will put the rear wheels on.

Same station, had a guy refuse to put my 88 325ix on the 4-wheel drive dyno tester. Told me, "you are responsible for any damages because that car is not 4 wheel drive." AHHHHHHHHH> I hate air care.

TG
I would love to see that!

It would make life much easier, since our 'buddy' Ritter got rid of the 25 year rule and raised the penalty on late registration.

Yep, I was looking towards the day in 2011 when my car would be 25 and I could get the 5 year collector plate and no more emissions tests.

Ritter got rid of it last year, probably for more income for the state, Ba$t@rd!

Hmmm, I have the 5 year collector plate, but I am sure there is no "grandfather" clause to keep me from the sniffer in 5 years, well now 4 years. F CRitter!

The way I understand it, is if you got the collector plate before last year, and you keep making your payments every 5 years, you're grandfathered in. If you sell the car, the buyer has to have it emission tested and can't get the collector plate. They now only issue the collector plate on 1975 or older vehicles.

So you're telling me there is a chance...

I am sure in the end I will get kicked where it hurts and be asked to do emissions again, but I hope you are right!!!

In CT, you get an "early american" plate for 20 years old and an excemption for emissions at 25 years (for now anyway). I also know that if you show up with studded tires (between Nov and May) they won't put you on the dyno, just an idle test. Before building my special "cat tailpipe" I considered finding some studded wheels/tires I could use just to get past the rolling 25MPH dyno test.

I had a pos volvo 240 that needed testing a few years back and I just watched and smiled as the "tech" rolled the front wheels on the roller. I let him strap it down and get everything ready, then he got in and tried to get up to 25MPH. fortunately for him, he had it strapped down good and the concrete floor was smooth and slick. He almost $hit himself when the right rear started screaching away on the floor. I poked my head in and said "you know it's rear wheel drive, right?".
