Still, your system pressure should not be as high as it is. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the WUR has nothing to do with system pressure....only control pressure. Probably should pull out that pressure regulator from the fuel head. I would bet it looks similar to your WUR. |
Wow. . .
and yes the WUR has nothing to do with system pressure. I hope the system pressure regulator in your fuel head doesn't look anything like that... don't see how it could since fuel is constantly flowing through it while the motor is running and the corroded parts of your WUR are vented to atmosphere. Maybe the vent hose on the top has been missing on yours and when the car was washed or when it rained water got in there... and stayed there eating the insides. |
I'll tear the regulator down tomorrow. As for now, I need to find a replacement WUR.
|
The WUR vent line origonally went to the bottom of the air cleaner housing, (your origonal uneditted post came into my email) and it takes about 10 seconds to unscrew and remove the system fuel pressure regulator so get an early start... :)
good luck with it. |
Wow! When was the last time you drove anywhere in this car with that WUR?
BTW: I don't have an extra... I do know there are different model number ones but don't know the differences between them... |
What about Brian L? Might as well get one of his modded ones while your at it.
|
Brian L.?

New WUR...new life. Also found hidden air leak at the AAV.
2450 pounds of scary fastness! Thanks to all who felt compelled! You guys rock! Drew |
Good news wolf!

Nice!
And nice looking car! Are you running a WBO2 gauge? With that single pump, you need to make sure you have enough fuel on top so you don't run lean. BTW, here's the specs I have for the 1986 US 930/68 3.3L engine, your 1987 should be the same or close to it: System Pressure Test Value 6.7-7.4 bar (yes, the later lambda cars run more system pressure, early cars run 6.0-6.7 bar) Adjusting value 6.9-7.1 bar Control pressure warm 3.75 plus/minus 0.20 bar Full Throttle Enrishment 2.90 plus/minus 0.20 bar I have the temp graph I can PDF if you need it. |
I am actually just beyond the "get it running" stage. I will be getting in deeper in the coming weeks.
Again, thanks for all the support and compliments. Drew |
Did you throw that old WUR in the bin? You should have sentit to Brian Leask as mentioned above, he would have cleaned and rebuilt it and made it adjustable. How much did you pay for a replacement one?
|
I kept the old wur with sending it to Brian Leask in mind. I don't need an adjustable wur yet, but in the future it could come in handy. I bought a good used one for $200.00.

That's a good price for a used one Drew, you got a good deal there!
In my opinion the WUR should have been adjustable from the factory, everyone should have it done, every engine runs slightly different, and people live in different climates, it allows you to fine tune the fuel to suit your car, which is a great idea regardless of whether it's stock or not. A good condition stock one will be fine though, especaially when you got it so cheap, might be an idea to pop it open just to check the condition of the diaphragm, they obviously deteriorate with age so it's worth a look. And for the sake of stating the obvious make sure you connect that vent on the top back to the airbox. |
If this helps, I had a similar problem and this is what I found. My main wiring harness was cooked and melted the cold start injector circuit and the warmup regulator circuit and the fuel cutoff on the fuel meter. I Repaired harness and reset fuel mixture and routed the harness so it wasnt pinched and the issues went away. Just wanted to throw it out there.
