Question K26 i got from ebay.

Hope i did the right thing here. Won this on ebay for what i consider a good / fair price.
I would like to use it if my original goes boom! And a rebuild could take some time here.
I really want a k27(like everyone else) but they all seem too expensive or beaten on. I have a larger intercooler and have been working towards the k27 but no luck as of yet.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250615046607&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT

So, my question is......... am i crazy to buy this or??????? And was it a good price?

Anyone want to trade for a K27 ????? HA!

Depends on what you intend to put it on. On a 930 ,IMOP, I don't think so.

IMOP...just one of those text abbreviations for "in my opinion".

Although the 930's came stock with the 3LDZ, they have a lot of turbo lag that most people get tired off after awhile and eventually upgrade to the K27's. That doesn't mean that the 3LDZ is necessarily a bad turbocharger; just not close to ideal.

That KKK 3LDZ does look new and not rebuilt because there are no scratches on the ID tag from rubbing on the engine tin. Rebuilders don't usually replace the riveted on ID tag.

If somone had a 930 collector car that has to be all origonal, thats the right turbo for it and you got it for a good price in that respect.
If you want a K27 I'd suggest you not install or run this one making it used and lowering it's value and sell it to a collector, then buy a newer design K27.

The K26 and 3LDZ are not the same.
K26 turbos came on 924 turbos and 944 turbos and never on a 911 turbo.

The 3LDZ was origonaly made by KKK for an old diesel truck and then Porsche put them on the 930

Looks like i got taken.

Opened the oil stained box to find a used old dirty AC compressor. Jerk!
Now the ebay fight begins.

They have been pretty good with me but when this happens i get steaming MAD.

Is there no honesty anymore?

FWIW, I had this happen once and the guy just got the boxes mixed up when shipping. It was corrected in time and they paid all the shipping to make it right. We each shipped the items to the correct buyers. His rating looks solid, I would make sure it was not a mixup before I started the hanging party. Hopefully that is all that happened.

Yeah I would say that would be the case, if they were going to shaft you they just wouldn't send you anything... I need one of those K26s to hold the door open, just kidding
