Keep your car forever?

I feel sorry for guys like DonE.

I've had the 930 25 years and the 356 20. I will never sell them. My daughter and sil will inherit the 930. My son the 356 unless they agree to trade.

Am I in the minority here?

So you bought your 930 when it was all of 10 years old and have had it since? Good for you!

Mine was 19 years old when I bought it, and I too most likely will keep it forever. Can't see any reason not to at this point, barring any disaster that requires quick liquidation of assets for the cash. The only reservation I have is if it starts to nickle-and-dime me (or should I say $1000 multiple slams) that would challenge my retirement income when the time comes. But I've got a couple three more years before jumping into the life of leisure where I'll be living in a tent trailer at Walmart parking lots, eating gourmet meals consisting of macaronni and cheese, hotdogs, $.89 Nallleys chili, and homemade dandelion wine. People will stare and say "did you see what that old gummer is towing behind his tent trailer? "

Never selling. Same with the bike.

But if I ever get to the point where I can't exercise them properly (i.e. my own physical ailments), maybe I'll pass them along to someone else who can.

Not alone at all. I'm seriously contemplating being cremated in mine. Having trouble finding an jar big enough for both of us though.

Cole, I have a college friend who's family business is in industrial barrels (they're coopers, I suppose). I'm sure they can find something that'll work for you.

Maybe, someday, if I had the means for a GT3 I might sell mine. I can only say that I will never be without a fast 911 of some sort in my garage.

I was thinking of selling mine last month...then we started the motor rebuild. It's mine for a loooong time now! This was the car I really wanted when new and could not even get close to. So I am a keeper until a real raced in the day vintage trans am car comes along!

Racing is life. Anything before or after is just waiting.

Since the 911 turbo is on the top 10 collectors car list, I will never sell it for less than 100K.
At least my kids may get that for it when I finally hand it down. Kinda like a fine watch.

I'm too far upside-down to sell mine.

Must be buried in it

I thought I'd never sell mine and pass it on to my son who's 15, but economic times have changed...

It sure was fun the past ten years.

Not the 930, it is part of the family.
I've had several 911s, 356s, 987... throughout the years... they come and go but the 930 stays.

I bought mine in Munich in December of 1984 with 2200km, then had it shipped to Houston for the required EPA/Dot gray market mods. It arrived in Minnesota a couple of months later. Had it ever since. I'd starve before selling it. It will go to my son in a few years, and then it will be his choice whether to keep it or sell it. If he sells it, I'll come back and haunt the bejesus out of him.

My daughter had just turned wasn't even 3 when we got the 930. She was 9 when we got the 356 and wrote a great journal/story as we made the 300 mile trip home. She gets the 930 because her husband a total gear head has promised to upgrade it to efi and keep it pristine but drive it when I give it to them. I get to drive it when we visit but I know it will be in good hands. The 356 goes to my son because he has and can work on it. I was the 2nd owner of the 930 and 4th owner of the 356 so they are family no matter what.

I will stay with my 930 unless one day I find a 3.6 that I must have, or I go broke for some reason.

Can't see ever selling mine either. They are so unique and fun to drive. I've got a list of upgrades for the coming years that adds to the fun.
