Camshaft oil line restrictor update

Anybody using these? Did you notice a bump in the oil pressure? Any problems?

I had them for a while. Yes, you get a bump in oil pressure. I removed the restrictors because I didn't like the looks of the cam wear. There is a big discussion on these if you search the 911 technical forum.

Thanks for sharing your experience. After reading the other thread I probably won't be installing them.

It's a horrible idea to restrict oil to the cam lobes for the sake of increased oil pressure. Especially when you can shim the oil pressure relief valves safely and achieve the same thing.

Agree! I drilled larger holes in the oil line restrictors on my '91/92 engine for this reason. The original holes were small! Luckily my cams and rockers are fine.

This mod is OK-ish for folks with sissy oil pumps, like early cars, but personally never use it. With a 930/GT3 oil pump, there is no reason to use it, especially with today's crap oil.

I have seen a few folks actually take the restricted ones and ream them to a diameter half between stock and the small hole, which seems to work well as a happy medium.

Bottom line, though...no car with a turbo pump should run this mod.
