The Michelins are great but on my 996 I was getting 8,000 miles on the rears...stupid! On the Sumi's I am getting around 12,000. On my 965 that I never drive I have Michelins as I think they look better and are a little softer ride. Both of my cars have 18" wheels.

I have same rims and will be needing tires soon. I've got strange size on rear YOKO 285/40/17 and it's unlikely I'll find this size again.

Did you find the size of the rims stamped on the rim anywhere? I'm not sure of the width and It's a little hard to measure with the tire on.

My friend who owns a garage has a wheel gauge with his spin balancer. It measures the wheel on the outside and displays the corrected inside to inside measurement. Mine turned out to be 10's and 8's, and the sumi's fit perfect.
