New tires :)

I bought my car with 17" Fikses 10.5" rear 9" front, but the tires were too narrow for the wheels 255/40/17 in back, and 225/45/17 in the front.

I did some reading and found 315/35/17 rear and 245/45/17 front is a good size for my wheels. I also read most people are pretty happy with the sumitomos.

I bought my tires through americanmuscle.com, got them delivered in one day for a grand total of $441 (cheaper than tire rack). Hope to have them on in a couple days.

$441 !!! Dang that's cheap. I searched high and low for my 18" tires to get a good deal. Still spent about $1000.

The per tire fee was more than tire rack, but they include S+H and no sales tax outside PA.

That explains the good price. My Michelin Pilot Sports are rated 500-AA-A and cost about twice as much. But if the tread lasts twice as long, it seems to be about even.

Found out my wheels are actually 10 and 8 inches, the tires still fit nicely

i couldn't get the 245/45's on my 17x9's to not rub everything with the slightest turno of the wheel. I ended up with the 225's and they fit perfect. But since you have 8" rims all is well.

love my sumitomos

These tires provide a much nicer ride and are a lot quieter than the Michelin Pilot's they replaced. Happy with them so far...

Yes, the Michelin Pilots are louder with a particularly bad road buzz at about 60mph. I will probably not buy them again. I wish I could get good numbers, a good ride, and less road noise all with one tire. I guess everything in life is a compromise.

Could we see a side shot or a rear quarter picture with those awesome tires?

Thanks,
Mark

I have been running the Sumi HTR Z III on my 996 for 3 years now. Great cheap tires and howl on freeway concrete just like the Michelins...but at 1/2 the price! Treadwear rating 300 AA A so they will howl longer than the howling Michelin's...cool!

The Michelin's are that bad? I was thinking of getting a set to replace the S-03's on my car now, since the S-03's last about 7000 miles....

Oh, and I have 18's so no matter what tire I get its freakin expensive.

i've got around 3500 miles so far on my sumitomos. no noise and they seem to be wearing nicely. And they grip pretty good to boot.
