Kumho Ecsta XS 265/40/16 are great bang for the buck. Sticky, stiff, 'somewhat' noisy, and seem to wear as expected.

Diggin them - was giddy to retain the Fuchs yet add some sorely needed footprint.

I've been happy with the Sumitomos on the 930. They were in that size too. We have Kumhos on the Cayenne S and they've been nice too but I don't know if they are in that size or not. Either way I'd check Tirerack for details and prices....

tx citrus

I'm on 7's/9's with 225/50 up front

Ideally I'd score me some 8's to go up front with those 225s

IDEALLY I'd schoooooor me some Alton Fuchs - FUCH! 8-(

heh heh

I run 265/40/18 Sumi HTRZ IIIs on Alumibiatch, and loooove them - check the Rack to see if come in your size. Zero sidewall roll, excellent grip, decent wear/noise. With the 930 noise is less a concern as I always have windows open to hear the exhaust / intake wail. F tire noise 8-).

Getting backback down to NC again is a nogo for me for this year as too much car-shenanigan travel already... (unless a certain project there hits the streets theeeeen heh heh).

Was there June and April bummer I missed you @ the other one. You in CT yes, IIRC?

16 or 17" I like the

I second the comment on the Sumitomos both in 16" & 17". Ecsta seemed a little greasy to me, but were OK.

The world is running out of options for 16 inch tires. I'm switching to something like the following:

8.5 x 17 fronts & 11 x 18 rears, running 245/40 & 295/35.

Thank you everyone for youre helpful input. The reason for my tire wheel questions is my wheels were ruined when my fender dent was being fixed at the body shop. The body work was great however the final car wash was to acidic and clouded my Fuch wheels.Fortunately the shop is making good and sending them to Harvey Weidmans.Meantime I bought some 9x16 and am selling my 8x16 I had been running sumitomos 245 45 16 and 225 50 16 .Sooo I plan to run 9x16 and 7x16 in the front.and am looking for new tires or if sumitomo makes a 265 45 16 thats what I will put in the back of car.

If we can change out the rear 7's for 8's on a Carrera. I was thinking we could do the same on the front of a 930 that has a fair amount of room compaired to the front on a Carrera.

Did not think we would need the 944 rims up front for 8's but was not sure.

I think I have even seen 9's on the front but not sure.

Believe or not but Hankook Z212 are pretty nice tyres and you get them at least 245 (rear) and 225 (front) in 16". We do endurance racing in Finland where 1-type tyre used is that Z212. Not many wide tyres available in 16" and to have same treat pattern.

Thx Mark.

So as I thought, the 8" 911 Fuchs from the early 930's and 89 911 rear can be run on the front with 225's.
