Engine I.D.

Just wondering what years the 935 motor were made.I have an extemely fast 930 that pulled on a Yamaha R1 motorcycle. It has a twin plug bosch distributor with the brown colored dist. cap. The car the kid I bought it off said his dad built it and put a rare and expensive motor in the car but had no clue what it was.
What are some things to look for to figure out what I've got?

Cheers

There are two possibilities:

1st: You have a really really strong engine

2nd: The R1 was running on 3 cylinders or less

Seriously, the R1 goes from 0-200km/h within 7.5 seconds, 100-150km/h in 4 seconds and top speed is almost 300km/h, so it takes a lot of power to beat that, even with a 935. The big difference, if you ever drove a motorcycle, is the power comes immediately when you open the throttle, that can a turbo engine from the 80's only dream of

Motorcycles are not so good in the quarter mile or longer due to their brick-like drag coefficient so a 930 could pull away in a race from 50-100+ more likely.

Look at this video, the bike is in front more than 1/4 mile:

Porsche Vs. R1 Vs. Avion - Video

Even a highly upgraded 930 still needs a few tenths until full boost is reached, NA engines got much better throttle response

My ol' Harley, being the heavy pig that it is, would just be getting over the super rich stumble from the accelerator pump in the carb. By the time it cleaned up enough to develop it's rated HP, the 930 would have reached the finish line.

If it looks like this these are poor engines. I would be willing to trade you a good strong 930 engine and will even pay for shipping.

Depends on the year R1, Depends on how well the R1 was running. Depends on if the motorcycle was modifed etc, rider skill, etc. But to be honest most vehicles Motorcycles included are not doing the claimed speed, Speedo error etc, factor in head winds bla bla bla.

Bench Racing is a poor means of measurement. Although this kinda sounds sketchy.
