Question Correct alternator?

Is this absolutely 100% the correct alternator for my 1982 930 with internal regulator?

From the application guide at the bottom of the webpage, it would seem correct. The picture also shows the internal voltage regulator.

I've gotten 1 or 2 from V.ertex in the past and been happy.

EDIT, to look at the link, you need to sub in v.ertex with out the dot for the ******'s.

Craig, I happen to have a 79' 930 engine apart here and I checked the part number for the alternator.

It is also 911 603 120 04.

Hope this helps.

Also, does anyone know if the later 84' and up alternator will work? And if so, is it an improvement?

I am not sure, but by the picture here on P.P , it looks as if the newer one has a better heat-sink design for the diodes and voltage regulator.

Later model alternators will work, but you will need to update to an internal voltage regulator. That said, it's really just some wiring. I think there is a bulletin on it.

That's the right one. The update is attached.

For the air guide, you can modify you old one if I'm not mistaken. Just need to slot the bottom.
