Nice example of an '89 Cab. I think I would want to see all the service records detail, in light of the fact that the odometer reading is highly suspect. I don't buy the dudes excuse of the previous owner "mistakenly putting a 1 in front of the 57,000". If the PO was that stupid, then how stupid was he at maintaining the car?

If well cared for, then 157,000 shouldn't be too much of a turn-off, but it is high mileage. The current owner has had it since 2006, dumped eleven grand into it in performance upgrades and tuneups. Given the year, the G50, and the Cab (personally, not my favorite body style...but I do love the white wheels...call me biased), his price isn't too outrageous except for the unknowns. Find out how it's been driven (grandma's car, or a track beast).

Assuming the higher of the two mileage quotes, the guy that's already offered 29K is probably on the mark.

Just my opinion, I'm by no means an expert on car pricing. I paid more for mine that I should have, but it's in excellent shape with over 100K on it now. Besides, I just couldn't live without it.

I contacted the owner who is not willing to pay for a PPI or leakdown. He's says he is not even sure what they are. Not often you see this model/year come up for sale. I think he will get what he is asking for this car. Thanks for the input. Philip

Just a comment but it's the buyers responsibility to pay for the PPI not the sellers.

FYI I live in Michigan and I am a new car dealer, I want to state that Carfax is great but it is just an amalgamation of data supplied by people that are not infallible. I pointed out that I am in Michigan because Polk is the parent company of Carfax and I am good personal friends with some of their top brass and I have met Stephen Polk a number of times, and more importantly I have bought personal cars where I followed the paper trail to each owner. It will certainly affect the selling price but I would not dismiss the car solely on the basis of the Carfax report.

Reminds me of a '84 Carrera I bought at the GA dealer auction years ago. The speedo said 60,xxx miles (and had been replaced according to the repair sticker on it from Texas), but the title said 30,xxx miles. The car had been stolen/recovered and was driven 30k miles in 3 months while MIA? No way!

+1. I remember before I got Das Babe, I took a 1 month unlimited Carfax and ran a lot of them. I ran my 2006 Odyssey and they tagged it as being involve in an accident... which never happened. Should try to get this fix before I trade it in for my next winter car

I agree 100%...while Carfax is an easy, handy tool, it's but one tool to be used in looking at a car; and an imperfect tool at best. When Carfax first showed up in the late '90s I ran reports on a couple cars that I owned, and received a huge surprise when Carfax told me that a car I'd owned since new (and still own) had a mileage discrepancy...my then-9500 mile car had been reported as a 77,000 mile car during an emissions test 3 years earlier, when it had 7700 miles. This clerical mistake by one of the incredibly highly-trained, always meticulous (and courteous) professionals at the DMV ended up eating hours and hours of my life to get it straightened out, even though I'm never selling the car, it was a matter of general principle.

Long-story short, Carfax IS, as stated by others, a collection of information entered manually - often by morons - over the course of a car's life, and it's unreliability should therefore be as obvious as it is that the car in question here likely didn't travel over 100,000 miles in a year...

All that said, I'd pass on this car because of the mods, terrible re-skin work on the front seats, oblivious owner (often equals oblivious service), and the fact that, my feelings about Carfax aside, this car has a "story."
