Front Mount Intercooler

I recently just picked up this front mount oilcooler. It also came with a metal front valance. It came off of a 930, not sure of the year. My questions are:
1. Is this a good quality oil cooler?
2. Was this a stock item on a 930?

Thanks,

John

I have the same cooler on my car. PO told me it was a 930S cooler also used by Kremer in the day; and yes it is a very good piece.

Oh good. It seems like a nice piece.I'm considering putting it on my 911 eventually. It get so dog gone hot out here I think it will come in handy. I know these things get expensive. I would like to see what my RSR bumper options are.

Thanks for the pic.

How do you have it plumbed on the pass side? I would like to keep the carrera oil cooler/fan set up in addition to adding the front mount. Is that too much to ask for on the oil pump?

The early to mid-80's factory slants had an option for the high-output engine which came with a front mounted oil cooler like this.

"WERK1",

So it lookes like mine is an aftermarket cooler from the inlet and outlet differences and the end tanks. I have a metal valance with it that is very nice construction. I was trying to figure if it was a factory piece or dealer piece. It really doesn't matter, it appears to be a really nice cooler. Hopefully the valance will work on my car. Mine is the same as "mooney265". Were there different versions?

Cool piece of history there... and yes, plumb it in series with the fender mounted one. Same effort for the pump assuming the coolers are "clean" w/o much flow resistance.

Well, maybe not. The factory used a variety of different front coolers, depending on vintage. If it's German, it usually will have the "LR" casting as shown on my lower photo.

Yeah, when I read the thread's title, I thought, "That's a hell of a long way to sent those turbo gasses back and forth; fine for Supra owners but not for us!"

the only good side would be the intercooler would be completely away from all engine heat. Spool up may suffer though

Sorry guys, I meant "oil cooler". I think I had "intercooler" on my mind while looking at some websites that sell cores for building an intercooler for my project.
