6 $*#&%^# hours to install recaros? anyone else

let me say i have built engines in less time then it took my to install these seats,...

nothing bad to say about speedware motorsports, customer service was great, shipping was super fast, everything was packed super super well...

1. side mounts didnt line up worth a ****! period, had to extend the holes on all 4 mounts a bit,...

2. bolts were not long enough to mount slider to side mount, had to go get new bolts

3. sliders did not line up to floor mounts worth a ****! had to extend those holes a bit

4. finally get it all bolted up and ready to go in car, bolt it in, and find out the sliders are hitting the mounting bolts to the floor,..therefore i need spacer in between slider and floor mount

5. at this point i was ready to shoot someone. back to lowes for washers

6. finally install seats (this is the 4th set of seats i have done, and never have been this much trouble)

anyone else have these problems?

Try installing a seat on go-kart and you'll think it was easy!

I spent several hours putting in my Recaros but since I've installed a few kart seats my frustration level stayed pretty low. Now that they're all set up I can pull them out and put them back in pretty quickly.

this really really pushed my patience, not many things get me pissed like this,

i put a set of sparco evo 2s in a 2004 sti in under 2 hours along with removing the old seats and running air bag wires

anyway its done, love the seats, look great in the car and complete the interior ,...still trying to decide on a steering wheel now

Yes . . . but they sure look good and no more 'hanging on' . . . when the seat holds you tight.

Speaking of which . . . what are you doing for belts?

i have a set of sparco 3" harnesses, i am not sure i am going to put them in yet,..still trying to decide, its going to see way more street time then track, so they might be installed for track days only,...and they are red and trying to keep the interior simple and clean

Jim,
Installed a set of PP in my 930 this spring, and have to thank all the Pelicans for their help and guidance. Photos of other installations were a great help ! However, the bag of hardware and mounts (received from the same supplier as you) without any specific instructions did take a fair bit of time, and many mock-ups before I was satisfied. Also went the same route using spacers at the back of the rails. First seat took a lot of time, second seat was considerably less. Couldn't be happier with the PP's, though. Worth the initial frustrations !

What gets me about this, is the fact that the 911 has not really changed from it's inception thru at least 1991. You would think that the seat manufactures would of had enough time to come up with a seat rail kit that just simply bolts right in with no drama.

I suppose though, that there has not been enough people putting performance seats in their porsches, so I guess I can understand the lack of attention to details........
