Oil Cooler Chatter
My 1988 930 Turbo has an oil cooler chatter from the right front on hot days when I come to a stop.
Has anyone experienced this problem and can you give me some ideas on how to correct the problem? If the relief valve is at the right rear, can I rule that out or does the relief valve cause the cooler to chatter if it does not get a certain amount of oil flow? Thanks for any help that comes my way. Thanks Frank |

There are two noises in the 1988 930. One is a gurgling sound as the t-stat opens and sends oil to the cooler. The other is a faint whir sound when the little electric fan on the front-right side kicks in. I think maybe you have something interfering with the fan blades, or the fan motor itself has gone bad.
