84 sunroof bolt missing need help

have a look at the pics. there are 2 of these screw/nuts on the sunroof. they attach to the sides toward the back and appear to be the attach point between the slide and the roof itself, I am missing one set of these and Porsche cant find them and the local junkyard has only Targas to pick through. any one out there have any of these I could buy?

I knew exactly what you were talking about when I saw the title. I too am looking for the half moon bolt with the ribs.

If it's any consolation, the screw on tip off a spark plug is the same size of the threads - that is what is currently holding on one side of my sun roof.

Guys,

The part is the rear sunroof pivot bolt and special nut that is used to adjust
the heigth of the rear of the sunroof. As the sunroof closes it's last movement is to raise the rear edge of the sunroof to sit flush with the rear roof panel. This bolt
allows adjustment of the heigth of the pivot arm so the two panels will sit flush.

The bolt ( hex head, threaded body or male portion of the fastener assy. ) is a M4 x 6 MM standard metric bolt available in the metric bolt section at most local hardwares.
The nut ( special serrated nut with locater and taped hole or Female portion of the fastener assy. ) The standard nut that fits the M6 bolt should work in a pinch. Looked quickly in the pet but did not find the nut. You can get the pivot assy. with the bolt and nut from any Porsche dismantler, Oklahoma Foreign Car,
DC Automotive, Parts Heaven and possibly Evil Bay. Our host should be able to get a new pivot assy. if they are still available. This very part has been used in every sunroof Porsche for well over 30 years.

Good Luck !!!!
Cole

You can also look in other German cars with sunroofs like BMW, Audi, and Mercedes including cars with manual sunroofs. Most BMW's have sunroofs.

The sunroof hardware is likely made by the same companies for the car manufacturers and little parts like that might be interchangable.
