AAR-Smokin
Greetings:
Spirited driving on the hwy. Did a cool down before shutting it down, could have done it a liitle longer. I noticed after 5min when engine off. The bottom end of the tip/hex looking opening was spewing out some smoke. 1st time seeing this. It stoped within a few minutes. Spewing out light smoke-not alot. Feedback please.... ThxS WAlt . |

Sounds like you have a shorted wire that is burning off the insulation.

I checked that. Its coming from inside the AAR and exiting from that little hole in the front.-hex style opening.

Not sure what you mean by hex style opening. How did you check for a shorted wire?

We ARE talking about the same thing right? Second from the left is the AAR.

I think I know what you're talking about. My AAR - after I took it apart to adjust the thing for the cold idle I wanted - some time much later I was getting a really high idle just out of the blue. Turned out that the hex you're referring to was leaking air (as in drawing air in). Just gooped a bunch of sealent stuff around it to stop the leak.
The smoke coming out is weird, though. Is it really smoke, or just some vapors? Does it smell like burned electrical, or oil? Ya gotta stick your nose down there next time and take a good snort. Is your cold idle working ok (i.e, does it drop down when the engine's hot or is it staying high, indicative of the heating element gone south)?

Correct- 2nd one from the left. Yes Mark, there are vapors coming out. Smell like a burnt oily smell. I cleaned the plug right in the aar. It did have some oil inside. The vapor looked whie -grayish. floated like dry ice. I will use jb weld to plug that hex like hole. CAr runs great. No idle isues.boost is good. no flat spots...no wacky jumping with the rpms. THe temp. is good. No wires burnt in engine area...See what happens. thxs guys!
