Sunday Shop Day....
I got the rockers blocked, based and cleared yesterday with my final attempt to get the correct sheen. Looks like I nailed it. So rockers will get installed today for final mock up, then wet sand the whole car once more to final clear it. Hope to have the body completely done by mid week!! ![]() |

So last night I tried my last and final blend and I am happy with the result.
100 grams PPG 2060 flat clear 3.5 grams PPG 2021 high gloss clear 10 grams of OMNI187 slow reducer 10 grams of PPG DCX61 hardener I logged shop temp and humidity and I am pretty sure I can get it dialed in for a final shoot tomorrow. Test patch is next passenger door handle. ![]() ![]() Now time for wetsanding... ![]() ![]() |

Thanks Chris, next will be the fuel, oil and electrical system to get it running. I'll be haunting you at some point to figure out this Tech3 that's in here. I know I'll need a crank sensor, they cut the wires by mistake pulling the engine out.

So after looking real hard at the car outside in the sunlight today I came to the conclusion that the passenger door was slightly lighter than the rest of the car. So I have to respray the door and blend into the fenders.
Here's today's fun... Car all blocked out. ![]() Putting poly on the walls to get the least amount of dust as possible. ![]() This is the actual color if I were to gloss clear the car. It shows up real well when using the cleaner... ![]() All ready to blend and clear. ![]() |

How about the wheels got all (centers and rim) anodized in black with a slight blue hue, only noticeable when looking real close. That, I think, would be awesome.
All dark wheels would suit your theme best for sure, my2c

Well the saga continues. I shot the car 2 separate times and this PPG 2060 flashed over so fast (even with slow reducer), I have to rush to get through the car. Both of the previous attempts I ended up with some overlap and tiger stripes.
So today I dialed in my fan, lowered the pressure a few psi, masked 1/2 the car and shot the doors, fenders, and hood. Looks like I nailed it. ![]() I'll remove the masking, check for consistency and shoot the other half tomorrow... Last edited by IMR-Merlin; 10-30-2014 at 03:24 PM.. |
