The PP surfaced? Never heard of that one, but you might try some machine shops to see what they can do. What kind do you have? If it's a KEP, maybe they can rebuild it cheaper than new?

Do you have a picture?
I wouldn't grind a PP since you'd loose some spring tension.

How much HP are you making?
I've got a stock spring centered PP with about 1000 miles on it that I swapped out for my KEP. You can have it for shipping. |

the stock clutch couldnt handle the first set of mods. Much less what it makes now as a 3.4. Where do you get a KEP and what do they run price wise? It just pisses me off to see performance pressure plates for less than 100 dollars and then see the prices we have to pay for basically the same thing and usually much heavier.

Kennedy Engineered Products
It'll probably be about $1,000 for disk and PP. You will be happy with the quality though and they're about as light as anything out there.

Yeah, I think I paid something like $675 3 years ago. Shop around for your disc and you should be able to keep it under $300. Seems to me there was a 14 pound weight difference IIRC from my foggy memory banks.

I've had terrific success grinding the PP. Just take it to a clutch shop. They can even adjust it so the clutch releases closer to the top if you don't like pushing it all the way to the floor to shift. Much less than half the price of a new one. You can even get kevlar clutch disks.

Most medium to large cities will have at least one good clutch shop. BTW...I did not ask why but my shop suggested kevlar only on one side. I don't remember which side was which.

If you're running CIS, no matter what you do and no matter how much money you throw at it you'll never need anything more than the sachs spring center clutch disc for a 930 and a KEP stage 1 pressure plate.

No need for kevlar and may even be worse than a stock disk.

David, What is your reason? Why would it be worse?

No I matter I found one. Plan on using it. Does anyone know if they are interchangable with ford clutch discs. The reason I ask is the centering tool that always comes with the clutches is for a ford. So the splines are the same, wondering if we have been charged several hundred dollars for a clutch disc that is the same fit form and function as one from a mustang or possibly a ford truck.

I had a Centerforce clutch with kevlar disk before my KEP clutch. It was with my current engine which is probably 550 HP at the clutch. The Centerforce lasted about 200 miles.
Now I have a stage 1 KEP with stock disk. A couple thousand hard miles with 315 rear tires and no problems.
