PLX Wideband
Is anyone running one of these?
PLX DM-6 SM-AFR | Wideband Air Fuel Gauge ![]() Knowing the AFR is always good and I like the ability to run multiple sensor inputs through it (my days of 9 different gauges are over). It would be trick to just add boost, EGT and oil temp into the same gauge. I used to run a LM1 from Innovative but I hated the 30-60sec wait time for the WB to warm up before you could start the car, not to mention the bulky controller box (this is back in the early 2000s mind you).

I have one in my car. AFR, boost, and oil temp. It is built into my tach, it was done by a guy that doesn't build them anymore. I like it.

Ive seen yours will, that is excellent. Did you have to extend any of the wiring to reach the dash? Are your modules mounted in the engine bay?

I have one like will's, I have the module (AFR) under the seat and the other one in the front trunk. The AFR wiring went from the O2 sensor to the module under the seat, so that's why it's under the seat. I would have preferred both in the trunk, but it's fine. I did not have to extend any wiring, there is plenty of wire provided with the modules'
I hope this helps

I had installed the PLX system.
The display (a DM-200) I've built in an old manual boost pressure display (instead of the clock). The modules I have mounted under the driver's seat. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The system has worked well

Timing is everything! I wish I had seen this a few weeks ago. I've recently ordered AEM Seperate. AFM and Boost gauges and still need Fuel pressure. It would have been great to get this info all on one gauge, save some money and get to keep my radio. I wonder if I get the PLX fuel pressure and DM 6 display if it can display the serial output from the AEM gauges??

Looks nice. Does the $199 include everything you need to run an AFR monitor? Couldn't tell from the site. Seems like everything is seperate?

My PLX is built into the clock housing. I can toggle between boost/vacuum, AFR, post I/C temp, and ambient temp. Particularly usefull in tuning the Electromotive tec3r. Great value.

Excellent, I got a little overeager and pulled the trigger last night. Until I am happy with the AFRs I think it will temp mount in the lower left corner of the dash. Once done I will have to find another solution, too bad that guy isnt still doing the tach integration.
Does anyone have an pics on how he did it? I assume its just a dis-assembly, new face etc. Wiring wise I would really like to put it all in the frunk. Is there any harm in extending the O2 sensor leads (added resistance with the extra wire etc)? 930/66 your mounting plate is exactly what I had in mind.

Oh, and I was thinking about mounting an on/off switch using a power mirror selector switch next to the existing one. It would be nice to be able to turn the gauge off completely (I like a dim interior at night). I assume this functionality is not already built in?

If you are considering incorporating a boost/vacuum module, then it should be placed close to the motor thereby shortening the length of the small boost/vacuum hose, otherwise it may result in sensor lag and/ or bad readings. The modules should be away from heat so the more obvious alternatives would probably be on the back wall by the rear footwell under the carpet overhang or underneath one of the front seats. I have the same setup as 930/66 with all the read outs incorporated into the boost gauge housing. You can choose to show one large reading (great at the track) or several smaller readings. Cheers, Johan

I like the idea of taking apart a clock or boost gauge to use to mount the display. I hadn't thought of that. I was planning to buy a blanking plate and drill it 52mm to mount mine.
The PLX setups are really nice. I've used their sensors in my other cars for years with great luck. Always be sure to buy from PLX direct as it's less haggle if you ever have a warranty issue. Chris

Looks like I need to bump this as its become higher on my priority list. I received everything from PLX a few weeks ago (both the boost and AFR modules.
I'm not familiar with where the 911 has wiring pass through into the cabin. What did you folks use? I am going to follow your route Thomas and mount to a plate under the drivers seat. Did you tap power and ground there as well? Any color code info? Does anyone know if the display can be turned off completely? Is there a warmup time to the O2 sensor? My old LM1 had that and it was super annoying, if you didnt wait then you could kill the sensor after a few startups. Thanks again folks.

wiring pass thru = left rear corner of left rear foot well, there's a grommet - go under carpet and you'll see it
need cubic arseload of wiring to get it back thar, over the river and thru the woods and over the fender arch and around the rear bumper, etc. |

Is it a small grommet? The o2 sensor harness plug is large, I suppose I could depin it and splice in some extra wire. Never heard if that is an issue with sensor accuracy.... How did you other folks manage?

You can go through the shifter tunnel and out the car that way... Pretty simple.

Great, so it sounds like there is enough wiring to reach where it needs to go then without any harness lengthening.
