Texas Mile 2010

Just around the corner, so I figured I get going with this :D The Bello Power 964 Porsche will try again to better the current times for the 0 to 1 Mile distance at the Texas One Mile event.

This time around we are expecting the car to hit the 242MPH but the dream goal is 246MPH :eek::eek:

If any company out there like to fly their company logo in the car , please get in contact with me, as far as I know, the following companies are already on board.

Funf Gruppen
Turbo Wax
Race Parts Solutions
Dougherty Racing Cams
Hawk Brakes
Yokohama Tires
OS Giken
Tial
Haltech
Spec Clutches

246mph would be amazing! I can't wait to see the results!

Dynamite! Whatever Eddie's doing to get those incredible numbers, it should be bottled and sold. A lot of us in the Porsche world will be watching with our fingers crossed, hoping Bello can break another record.

I have always wanted to run the Texas Mile.
Sadly I never have the time to do so. Sigh, who knows
there's always 2011!

tj930 10-14-2010 02:46 AM

Hehe.. quattrorunner and drmatera made me chuckle :)

246, eh?.. Overtaking McLaren F1s at full tilt, now that is something special.. Veyrons next? ;)

The time has come, and I hope to be able to provide regular updates as they come regarding this event just like we did last year, drmatera will be the "Official" team translator Spanglish to English :D so here we go,

Oct 20

The car was dyno and tuned and the final numbers were 1155 rwhp on E85 Fuel

Oct 21

The car was fully prepared and on the trailer ready for the departure to Texas, total distance to cover will be around 1100 miles each way.

Oct 21

The Team is ready to leave and the truck has a mechanical failure. They try to rent/borrow a truck but no luck. At 9.00PM Bello drives the car off the trailer and starts to drive to Texas without a team, Just his car, 2 cans of fuel and small tool box. Lady Luck has turned her back on him yet again. UNBELIEVABLE.

Oct 22

Driving all night without any sleep and at 6.00AM still driving out of Florida with a very long way ahead, he called to see if I can find someone in Texas in case that he needs any help, any volunteers step to the plate. This will be another testament of the durability of the air cooled power plant even with a high output engine.

Wish I was in Texas to help! Even just to run for the Coffee!

jpnovak 10-22-2010 06:11 AM

I am about a 100 miles from Goliad. I can help mobilize if needed however my time is already booked for most of the weekend except for Sunday morning. Most of my contacts will be out of town at the track this weekend. I can have access to a trailer if needed for severe mechanicals.

My hat is off to him for not letting mechanical failures in the tow vehicle get in his way. Good luck this weekend.

drmatera 10-22-2010 06:26 AM

damn Juan, if it weren't for bad luck he would have no luck at all. Good thing it's always the tow vehicle that breaks down, funny how the 1155rwhp "race" car is better on long trips than the truck. If I hadn't of just got back from turbopalooza I would have offered my truck and driving services. Would have been a great time.

Is a Sad story, this poor guy pours his heart to this never ending quest, I offered my 28ft Enclosed Trailer 2 months ago. He declined because someone offered a truck and open trailer which is much easier to manage for the long distance, when he called me, He was already in Orlando, which is 4 hours away from us. We talked about plan B but never Plan C.

I'm already looking at the crystal ball, made 1155rwhp, drives to Texas 1100 miles runs 242, and drives another 1100 miles back, if that happens this will be an astonishing accomplishment, since 98% of the cars at the Mile will come in a trailer
.

I hope that is not TN. That is a bit far out of the way. Plus, I do not think I have seen palm trees in TN.

Maybe he made it to TX.
