Who do I know if there is a lean on a car
Hi guys buying a car in the USA . Is there a way to see if there is a lean on a car?

it will be listed on the title.

What does the seller say when you ask him if he's got the title in hand? Can you have them fax/email you a copy of the title?

So the way it works in the USA is the bank keeps the tittle until the car is paid?

In some states the bank keeps it and you get a copy, and in others you keep it but the front of the title indicates a lein.

yes when the loan is paid off they sign off the lien on the title and mail it to you. So if the seller is in possession of the title there are no liens on it.

In California a lienholder will be on the title, now i worked for a company in west australia called ertech once down at a place called Ravensthorpe.
