930 Oil Leaks
Just curious if you guys have experienced alot of oil leaks on your car? I've had oil leaks repaired in the past and it seems to be a never ending occurance. Also, I usually drive the car about once a week and properly warm it up as well. Is this problem a fact of life with Porsche as my previous Boxster had leaks as well? Are you repairing oil leaks frequently?
Used to make fun of Harleys leaking oil - can't do that anymore... |
Part of air-cooled ownership.

The day mine don't leave a few drips on the floor, is the day that they don't have any oil left in them. I've seen quite a few newly rebuilt motors and after a month or two of driving they'll develop a small drip here or there or somewhere. I find that using a light coat of copper spray on the valve gaskets helps keep them dry.

Speaking of harleys dripping, my Ducati used to leave a couple drops on the floor if she sat for more then a couple weeks. lol

But, the Harleys do weep at the gasket surfaces since changing to Harley's brand of synthetic oil. Thus, in my 930, I still use the old fashioned melted dinosaur juice and don't have any appreciable leaks. Too scared to try full synthetic for that reason. |

I see it as management, the air cooled animal we choose to drive may have a slight drawback, oil control may be one of those, but the positives far outweigh a little maintainence
