My new turbo is just a ups hop away.

Anything I need to consider when installing and getting ready to drive off? How about brake in period? how and why?

Full instructions are included. Prime with oil before attaching sump tank, brake in for 50 miles driving around town, verify all is good and let 'er fly!

Gents...

The HFS is in.
Before I put the new unit in I did the flow test as described by Mr. Cole. The scavenge pump works just fine even though I have a somewhat squeezed oil return line. Not as bad as first thought. Fresh oil and filter offcourse.
I followed the instructions provided by Mr. Rarlyl8.
No oil leaks so far. I did the idle and the short test drive with no boost. I'm taking off for the weekend but will start the break in drives next week.

Flap flap flap......

I always thought the exhaust needed to be replaced. The car makes that flapflap sound under boost. The guy at the dyno told me the exhust was making to many sharp turns combined with 3.5 inch tubing would make that sound. Now i know different.

I just very recently had to replace the 915 with a 930 trans due to 915 failure. The guy who fitted the -86 930 told me that the flapflap sound is because leakage between top and cylinders.
This may explain the low 280rwhp.

I assume next step is to find out why.

That is the sound of a broken head stud I'm afraid.
