Shipping Motor
Currently the motor of my 930 is sitting on an engine stand in Chicago (along with the chassis). I'm looking to ship the motor out to the west coast where I'm going to embark on the rebuild that it desperately needs. Interested in tapping some of the group's experiences with respect to shipping motors and the necessary packaging.
Any thoughts, recommendations, etc. Would be great.

When I bought my LT-1 for my Jeep project...and when I bought my LS-2 for the 948 project, I used truck freight (Con-way) both times... shipping terminal to terminal is cheaper. (bring a truck and they will forkload it in the bed for free). Both engines were bolted to a pallet, then 2x4's were used to build a box around the pallet. Using plywood as the sides and top.... and you are all set. The LS-2 was about $300.00 to ship from CA to GA.....

Dropped my engine and did the same here... Yellow freight terminal drop, shrink wrapped it and banded to an oversized pallet, cost was $400 Buffalo to CA. Return trip was a little different, shipped back to me in 10 boxes UPS after all the machine work was completed by Walt at Competition.
