Porsche Flat 8
I'd guess that this would be a very rare engine if it looks like what I think it is. Is this a flat 8? Looks like a 914 dash.

There was a at least one official 914-8, it was orange, and did have a stock body. Porsche museum, I believe.

There were actually two. One was for Dr Porsche as a present from his son. The other was for his son. It was rumored that the Drs car was watered down while B Porsche has his out of an all out 908 car. They knew this because as B Porsche would come over the bridge to work in the morning between shifts the car smoked. Well the 098 had direct oil jets to the valves to keep them cool. Consumption was not an issue, cooling a race motor was. The other part of the story was B Porsche built the first one for his self then realized that the good Dr would be pissed. So he build the second one for the Dr and offered it in tradition of his B-day gift.

It is a DOHC flat 8 - I checked out a similar motor while being rebuilt in an Atlanta-area shop. Very cool. The gauges and the wheel predate a 914, and the dash/column appear to be set too close to the car's centerline to be a 914 - not sure what this is.

We had one of those 2,2L flat eights here at Pelican last year (one of the recovered Vasek Polak engines). I believe that the 914-8 cars used 908 engines, rather than the Type 771 engine shown in the pics.

Just in case anybody cares: that car appears errily close to the 718 W-RS discussed here: YouTube - Porsche 718 W-RS at the Goodwood Revival
To think that they had the 718, the 904, and they built the 911. Oh dear.
