Any pics of the finished tank and how many gallons does it hold now? i was thinking of doing the same thing with mine. Not the internal pump but bigger peick up and rounding it out by removing the inset for the spare tire.

Just saw this thread too! Love you hacked up the tank and redid it with great craftsmanship! Most folks would not want that project. They'd just buy a fuel or something else.

Almost finished the tank this weekend, only one more piece to form and weld in, then it's time for a pressure test. I'll post when it's done, bit it's been quite a job!

I have no idea what the final capacity will be, maybe 3 gallons more?

Increasing the pickup size would be easy with the tank opened up, it's only brazed in.

Thanks!

I asked myself the same question several times, "Now why did I do this?", because it's been quite the project in itself. One more piece to form and weld, and I'm ready to move on to the pump mount.

Gas tank almost done

Last piece of the puzzle welded in. A little dolly work, then more flap wheel (or is that cow bell?) and it's ready for a pressure test. The top opening fits two 044's in-tank.

Stock bottom fittings removed and covered:

Nice vacation weekend to blow off the winter dust and get to work!

In my grand plan to update the car, front to back, to modern standards I wanted to get rid of the old style fuses and relays, and add fuses and relays for the EFI and headlights in the process. The relays are buffered 40A sealed Panasonic units, made in Japan. No more overpriced round relays made in China.

Fabricated from stainless, I built it modular so it only takes removal of a few screws to break it down for re-wiring or maintenance. The fuse block is from Fred Cook here on Pelican. The rod below serves to brace the lower block and provide a place to tie off the wires

Fully assembled.

In the car, located to avoid all the bracing. Now I just need to wire it up and test.

good lord. seeing this may have increased the length of my project that I am just getting started on.

adding another thread to my list of 'things to do to my 930'.

my 930 clone has the bodywork and the motor, but the guy left SC suspension / brakes. I already got a set of 930 calipers.

have started considering the suspension. not sure I'll be up to what you did, but will consider.

Steve Weiner is also my go-to guy on my build.

outstanding work.

Thanks guys! It's been a very slippery slope, and not enough shop time!

I'm hoping to at least hear the engine run this summer.

How did I miss this thread? Wow, nice work. I will be harassing you at some point for the COP specs.

I an running EFI in my 930 and was told you only need 1 044 pump.

Thanks!

You probably missed it because of my snail-like pace!.......

I'm running two parallel 044's in-tank to set the stage for a future E85 setup.

Here's a chart for an 044:

If you keep the pressure down to a max of 4 to 5 bar (boost + base fuel pressure) the pump pulls 12 - 13 amps and delivers 3.5 - 4.0 ltr/min flow. Will probably live a long life. If you push the pressures higher, the amp draw and heat go way up, shortening the pump life, and the volume goes down.

I did a lot of research on the COP's, hit me up anytime.
