question about replacing rear wheel bearings
I pulled the axle out and the instructions say to pull out the center shaft to put a drift in the back and hammer it out. OK so I beat the crap out of it and cant get it to move. It's hard to hit it very hard being under the car like that. should it be hard to get out?

Post a pictue of both sides, make sure you have everything undone before pounding. A couple of sharp blows should start to knock it loose, if you're "beating the crap" out of it something is wrong.

Ok, see if I get your situation..... 1.) You have pulled the drive axles out. 2.) Then you removed the big nut on each stub axle. 3.) Then you tapped the stub axles out of the hub carrier on each side (toward the center of the car). 4.) Now you are trying to drive the hub carrier out of the bearing races/ rear suspension trailing arm, via a large punch from under the car, and driving out toward the outside of the car...that is correct if you are at this point. I did mine just a little while ago, and getting the hub carriers out of the bearings races/trailing arm was quite a bit of work. It went very slowly, maybe 1/16" at a time, and then only if I got a solid wack on the drift, without it glancing off. When you are on your side, on the ground, under your car, you can only get a half ass angle with the drift in order to drive those suckers out. If your are indeed as far along as I have indicated in the steps above, all I can say is be patiant. Slow, steady, careful wacks will get the job done. Best of luck, it's kinda a b****h of a job, and unfornunately it's not much easier going back together either. Patiance and not too many beers, and you'll get it done. Well slide hammer didnt work but the bearing race puller kit i bought here also has a fitting for pulling the hub which i didnt realise until i decided to take a break and read the directions for the kit if i ever got the hub out lol. Once i realised that it took all of 5 minutes and no effort and it was out.
