930 Longneck Intercooler Piping

Hi turbo gurus,

I'm in the process of installing a longneck intercooler on my 87' 930 and need some help with the size transition between the turbocharger's metal piping and the new 965 rubber elbow with BOV. I have an approximate 4" gap to fill between the turbocharger's metal piping of 68 mm OD (2 11/16") and the 965 rubber elbow's 78 mm ID (3 1/16").

What have you guys done to fill this gap and make this size transition?

I have looked for silicone transition hose and it seems that the ID is either a little big or a little small, and as such, I'm not sure if that is acceptable. I have also looked for metal transition piping, but I haven't found anything, yet. I've even considered cutting the transition tube off of the stock manifold, and welding the side opening shut, however, there must be something easier...

Thank you for any suggestions!

Geoff

Mine had a aluminun reducer. I think you could easily have this piece made up by a sheet metal shop, maybe in aluminun or even stainless. I think I saw one on flea bay a while back. Philip

Geoff, we manufacture these for our intercooler kits. Direct fitment to replace the cast recirculation valve housing. PM me for price.
