930 runs bad under boost
i cant get to a mechanic for a few days, but i would like some opinions as to why my 930 runs perfect w/o boost. and then gradually starting a few days ago, when i get into boost, sometimes its ok but more and more its popping, generally making bad sounds, and a loss of power from what is used to be.
it has a stock wastegate. 3.2 intake efi mode td61 bb turbo b and b headers stock distributor does it sound like an ignition problem? or if 1 of the fuel pumps is bad would car run good w/o boost and bad under boost? its been a gradually worsening problem. it used to run like a bat out hell, now im afraid to boost it. any ideas? im supposed to go on targa california starting next thurs a.m. im hoping for a relatively easy fix, it does run very good w/o boost no smoke easy start up cold and hot no unusual engine noises. once again i ask the oracles on this site for advise, ideas, good news/bad news thank you, kevin |
do you have a afr guage or wb02 datalogging on your efi?
|
afr
i have a afr guage but its the kind with the led lights. it runs very rich, so much so i think it need to be leaned a little. but not now.
no data logging. it a euro one ole buhl early efi system. i can plug in a laptop while im driving. |
If the car has been running rich for a while, the spark plugs may be gunked up. I'd put in a fresh set of sparkies and see what I got.

Boost leak? Eleminate vac leak, blown hoses, etc as a possibility before moving to EFI/Ignition troubleshooting.

bad boost
thanks very much , men.
is it love hate with these 930s? like a girlfriend that screwed you over, but keep goin back. i couldnt sleep last night. i think if i could do it over, id stay with cis. i will let you know what we find. thanks again, kevin hopefully he will tell me to get some new headers..hehehe |
Is your overboost sensor still in the loop? Mine started acting up and cutting fuel too early. If you still have it you can ground the wire and test it without the sensor.
