Turbo Rebuild on 3LDZ that upgrades it to a K27, Anyone used this service?

Has any one used this service to upgrade a Stock 930 3LDZ turbo to a similar spec of a K27? I found this listing on Ebay offering the service and its definitely more cost friendly then slapping down the money for a K27-7200, given I am on a limited budget at this point? Any advice with this service or seller would be appreciated. The ad on Ebay looks pretty legit, and the turbo characteristic Chart, seems reasonable.

Looks like a reasonably priced rebuild / upgrade.

Shoot them a message and ask what their warranty is?

Looks good to me though

Tagging along, looks good.

I use them for the 3LDZ rebuilds and upgrades we offer.
The stock rebuilds are nice for restorations and preservation cars while the modified 3LDZ is a good option for spec racers and enthusiasts who want a 100% plug and play turbo.
The characteristics of the modified 3LDZ move it toward those of a K27-7200. Design constraints of course do not allow replication of the 7200's map. I haven't put one on a dyno yet as it must be the only change taking place. Often there are other changes made at the same time, such as the muffler, which would skew the results.

I purchased one from Brian and it absolutely spools up faster than my stock 3LDZ.

Thanks!

Guys,
Thanks for the input. Much appreciated. Brian I was wondering if these were the same guys doin your rebuilds so thats good to know. If I go this way that definitely gives me confidence in going this route.

Quick question, if I went with the high flow 3ldz turbo, would the stock intercooler and cis be adequate, or will I need additional fuel enrichment? Thx, Ben

Don't know if it is needed but I also installed a larger long neck intercooler. I didn't change anything on my CIS system.

No fueling mods are needed, however you should always verify your AFRs when making changes.
Stock intercooler is OK unless you are running more than stock boost, there should be no change in the heat load by adding this modified turbo for street use. In general bigger intercoolers are always a plus as anything that cools the intake charge is good.

Hello,

a few people emailed me on this topic some months back and I appoligize I have been so busy I never got back to you guys. I looked into the K26 rebuild / upgrade, but I decided to go with the 964 Turbo spec K27 KKK. Also this turbo as is will not fit the stock K26 brackets as most of you have or will find out. However there is an advantage of being in this business so long, and that is the fellows at Andial can help you out by machining the hot side turbo housing on a K27 to fit all the stock mount points / bracket and muffler if you desire. They still sell new in the box K27s and others if you need them. A little more then others, but the fact its drop in and their adapter is super cost affective, I would recomment them 100%, ask for Pete to help you, if you go this route.

Ben
