I can't stop looking - at ^all this^

bastids - making my head hurt! 8-)

I can't get over how good the simple extended tail looks on a slant - it really completes the lines / look.

Great, now I'll be giddily haunted by curvey engine bit thoughts and louver'd tail salivations...

I kept my intercooler in my office for a while. It was like a piece of art. It made me happy to see it when my day was going to hell.

When I see cars with B I G tails, I'm often reminded of that quote from Top Gun: "Son, your ego is writing checks your body can't cash.."

Now if it's a slant, 935-lookalike packing 600+BHP and your name's "Gabe" or "Serge", then fair enough.

But if it's some nasty, 2mph, FWD 'Euro-box' that could barely top 100mph BEFORE a Huge Wing was stuck on it..

The side vents in my extended wing are just slim slots, due to there design they will suck air out of the engine compartment rarther than take air in :-)

Yep, you can buy them (replicas) from AIR, Better Bodies, and Rennspd.

Originals can be bought from DP Motorsport in Germany too, but expect to pay 3X as much

My ego has been writing checks my body couldn't cash since the day I was born and I have all the scars, plates, pins, screws, staples, and schrapnell to prove it. My name isn't Gabe or Serge and I wouldn't own a slant, but, I do have a BIG TAIL and I'm way to old to give a s--- if anyone else cares for it or not. But, then again that's just my opinion and we all know opinions are like a--holes everybody has one.

UPDATE: The DP extended turbo tail arrived yesterday from A.I.R in a MASSIVE box. Unpacked it and it was very well wrapped in bubble wrap. The build of the tail is of a high quality. Very light compared to the OEM Turbo Tail, but also very strong. It has been pre-tapped with the appropriate threads, and bolt spacing to just bolt in place. Even has the Aluminium mesh grill installed under the tail

I'm thinking I could just send this tail off for painting and I could bolt it on, and use shims/spacers where required to get the right fit with the rest of the bodywork.

Do you guys have any experience fitting aftermarket tails to your cars? Is it a simple bolt-on affair, or does it require a pro bodyshop to fit the tail?

I don't really want to pay a bodyshop $1.3k to paint and fit this thing if it's just a simple bolt-on

I have installed this one about 2 months ago. It took me and my boy about 30-45 min to get everything aligned. The gaps are Ok for aftermarket tail. If the tail is already drilled for mounting you should be fine doing this yourself. You may need initial help to get it on, after that is playing around with shims and latch. Good luck.

I would recommend fitting it to the car with the latch installed just how it will be once painted. After you get everything lined up you can get a better idea of how the fit and finish are. If it is exceptable then send it for paint. If not, then you need to decide what needs to be done to make it right.

USD$650. On their site it says $750, but I got a discount due to the exorbitant international shipping costs!

Here's the link:

GREAT THANKS. I couldn't find that anywhere on their site.

So the factory rubber bolts around that wing correct? I believe thats how my DP was back in the early 90's. I would sort of rather it be all one molded piece but I still love that tail

336 - love it man

The tail from AIR is one completely molded piece, in f/glass. No rubber edge.

What you see in that pic on their site is a simulated rubber edge. They painted it matte black using some special 3M paint.
