HKS EVC boost setting question
 

Hi as you may have read recently i've been having fun installing the HKS EVC IV to my 964T - anyway looks like everything is now conencted right and i have compelted the learning mode process ( on a nice quiet private road of course :rolleyes: )

my question is that i can now see the presure difference between the manifold (HKS ) and intercooler(stock guage) boost measurements and it loosk about 0.2bar , this is fine however i was wondering how this relates back to fitting say a 1bar wastegate spring ? - would this be the same as setting my high boost on the HKS to a mxa of 0.8bar ?

what im trying to estbalish is what is safe ? when people talk about 1bar being resonably safe I am assuming this is intercooler pressure ? therefore i shouldn't go over 0.8bar on the HKS ?? and a low boost setting could be down as low as 0.5bar to get factory 0.7 ?

The HKS reads actual manifold pressure, and that's what you want. Ignore the stock boost gage, they're known for not being accurate.

How much boost you can run safely is controlled by a large number of factors, even the climate and altitude of your area can have an effect. Turbo size, intercooler size, ignition timing, fuel mixture, etc.

Before you start cranking up the boost, get a decent wide-band O2 and see where your AFR is. You could be running dangerously lean now, and even 0.8 bar is too much boost.

yep wise words - i will be fitting an AFR guage somtime this year , just i thought the general chat was that the factory setup was good for 1 bar ok but i was wondering if that was 1 bar manifold as indicated on the HKS or 1 bar at the intercooler ?
