clutch pedal

Hi,
I have an '82 930 and have a question ref the clutch pedal. I've replaced the cable and adjusted the clutch. While putting in the new cable I saw that the return spring in the pedal box was missing. I got a replacement spring and put it on; however, now the pedal stops before it returns completely (about an inch or so from the top). The "Omega" spring is still good. I can hook my toe under the pedal and pull it up all the way. Has anyone run into this? Should I just adjust the clutch with the pedal at this lower location? I think I had the same issue with the SC I used to own.
Thanks Frank

I got it working better; however, I think I need a new "omega" spring. After crawling around underneath the car the spring does not pull the clutch arm back the last little bit.

I have the same symptoms and both my springs are in good shape. Had it on my 911SC also and never worried about it. As long as your clutch engages and releases fully and you have enough free play adjusted your fine. I think as the pedal nears full return that last inch you describe the mechanical leverage in the pedal arm geometry in the pedal box is not enuff to return it to its stop. Its almost as if the pedal goes overcenter slightly inside the pedal box if you watch the motion of the return spring in there.
Hard to explain but ithe short answer is i would not worry about it.
