Tire Update - Bridgestone RE11's
I finally went for it and replaced my 15 year old Pirelli's. Only had 12k miles on them but the age made them a concern. Based on recommendations from this board I picked up the RE11's. A local shop matched the Tire Rack price plus shipping and installed them today. A quick zip around and they feel great on my '79 with stock rims. 245/46/16 rear and 225/50/16 fronts.
The Tire Rack has a sale on them right now $188/rear and $155/front. The fronts are being listed as 'closeout'. I'm not sure what that means but if you thinking about a set for stock rims this might be a good time to get them. I don't believe there are any other options at the moment other than Khumos which I heard were backordered. Just a heads up. I haven't taken pics yet but I'll try and get some and post.

They really are incredible street tires, the fronts were on closeout because they just released the RE-11A.

I think another alternative is with Toyo tires.
The stock size is available in T1-R. Or RA1 for R compound. easytires as them. The RE-11 is a lot better. |
