Tires for 7 & 9x16 Fuchs are getting rare. Ideas?

Every time I need new rubber for my 7x16" and 9x16" Fuchs, it gets harder and harder. This time, I can't seem to find find a front and rear set (just got off the phone with Tire Rack and Discount Tire).

I prefer 205/50/16 and 245/45/16 ... but if needed, I will go back to the stock 55-series profile, or go to 215/50.

Just street tires ... no need for track or Auto-X rubber. I know this question gets asked quite often, but what the vendors had six months ago, doesn't necessarily mean they are in stock any longer.

Ideas?

Thanks guys.

i was just searching myself. I go with the 55 series front, but talked with a few guys and there arne't many manuf with matching sets of those tires.

I just ordered a set of Nexxen N3000 (one of the top 3 korean mfg) that has 205/55/16 with a matching 245/45/16 rear - its my understanding that the rear matching tire is the limiting factor as the fronts are still a fairly common tire size.

The other is Fuzion - many people flame becase of the no name, but they are actaully a private label of BFG, and not a bad tire. Both are cheap, so i'm trying the Nexxen see where that gets me. let me know if you come up with another source.

Thanks,

BF Goodrich carries the exact sizes. I have them on at least five 930's and bouight 2 set just last year, I had one with 215 and 225 215x245 and a 225 X 255 they also also carry 205 series in high performance street tires. Great tires for good roads on dry summer days. Quiet too. I think theey are called G force radial TA's. no white lettering either.

Yes they make the r1 In those sizes, that's a track tire, not a street tire. I'm not one for recommending a race tire for the street, it's a waste $$$ and they don't do so well on a damp morning. The 205s are an easy find, it's the matching 245 that's going the way of the dodo.

I appreciate the input guys, but this isn't about tire preferences, it's about me even finding tires. I have spent half a day searching for a combo of 205/50-55/16 and 245/45/16 for my Fuchs ... believe it or not, I've found fronts here ... or rears there ... but not a full set by the same brand/model -- except mediocre Fuzions.

I've owned this Porsche for over 20 years, and over the last few years I've found it harder and harder to find good tires ... now any tires at all?

Case in point: BF Goodrich's website shows nothing in 245/45/16 except the g-Force R1 racing tire. Please, show me where I am wrong.

I'm not saying there aren't some out there, and I hope I am wrong, but from what I have been told today by Tire Rack, Yokohoma, Discount, Hankook, etc., they are out of that 245 size. Apparently, with the poor economy, they say there isn't enough interest to justify production. I'll keep lookin' . . . .

Like I said BFGoodrich makes them in matched sets front/rear tires. these are street tires not track tires. Kuhmos are Ok but the Bf Goodrich have the exact sizes. They are called G-Force Sport not G-Force R1 as you are refering to. that is a totally differet tire.

I don't understand what you are talking about. . They make street tires in all the correct sizes for a stock 930 with 7" and 8" or 7"X9" even 8" x 10" all matching front/rear. Kumo's are OK but are 255 rears which is a little large for 8" rims. I would not use track tires on the street so you must not be looking at the correct B F Goodrich line. I know they make dedicated track tires also just like Kuhmo does however I am using the street tires BF Goodrich makes in the high speed ratings and they are really nice tires for the 930 for all around summer use. I usually avoid driving in the rain but have been in it by chance and had no problems with the drive home. I did not try any hot shoe driving in the wet as that is not my style.

Toyo T1R's come in 45 series, or you can find many if you step up to a 245/50/16. I have Conti ExtremeContacts in 245/50/16's for my all season street tires and use Toyo RA1's in 245/45/16 on the hot Summer days.

absolutely, there are a least 5 different companies that offer in the 930 size. I have most of them in use right now and all have current technology and work well. Bf Goodrich are also very reasonable and perform well.

Please educate where to buy the BFG 245/45/16, if you can get your hands on them you are my hero. Not being a smart arse, I'm serious, like op says, nothing available!

Bob, from everything I ve heard about the fuzions people like them cause they are sticky.. They are made by firestone who also owns bfg.. So for what its worth I d say if its the only option run it. I m in socal looks like you are too. I m sure there will be more runs of fuzions... If you cant find the 245s and you need to get your car back on the road soon. I ll sell you one of my new spare sets of 245s to help you out... I ve never ran them but they look good mounted on 16 x 9 rims. I ll try and post pics mounted....

OK, didn't realize you're using these wheels on a narrow-bodied car and not a turbo. If that's the case and you're just looking for a street tire, I'd say go with a set of Fuzions in the correct OEM sizes and see if you like them. They're Bridgestones, after all. Can't be that bad. Most people that have had them (so I've heard--but you know how much that isn't worth) seem to like them. They might be a bit heavier IIRC, but you're running them on the street, so who cares?

I bought three sets last summer thru a Goodyear dealer. It could be possible not producing any more. They work nice and were around $650 road ready. I have Fuzions and Pirelli on street 930s and they seem good also.
