My garage is filled with smoke!
The good kind! 1976 Turbo Carrera is officially alive and well. I bought it last November and drove it home, intermittently spitting, and sputtering the whole way ( 4 hour drive). I knew it was ignition related, because it would clear it's throat, and run perfect for long stretches, and when it would act up, the tach needle would jump all over the place.
I drove the car for a week before I put it away, and sometimes it would not start in the morning, always with erratic tach operation, but the porsche gods make the diagnosis easy for me. I knew that last year, when the car would not start, I had fuel, and no spark, this spring when I tried to fire it up, no start, no spark, and no CDI whine. I installed my MSD last weekend, and just now turned the key. WHOOMPA!!. It fired right, up and settled down into a smooth idle in a few seconds I still have a couple of weekends of odds, and ends to take car of, but looks like I will be on the road soon. I have a big grin on right now.

Oh yeah, babe. Every time I jump her bones, I get a big grin as well. Glad to hear the MSD did the trick.
Took my girl out for a little "exercise" this afternoon, after spending all morning tearing off the IC and related stuff, just to check out all seals/hoses, etc. to make sure everything remains okey-dokey. I'm happy to report that my BOV manifold delete/Short neck IC mod is still holding together (even the JB weld is still hard as a rock). But...and this proabably belongs in the "wont start" sticky... that damn over-speed relay under the drivers seat is starting to piss me off!!! Been sporadically screwing with my mind lately, and today after firing her up, she ran for maybe a minute then just shut down. Reach under the seat, slam that troublesome whore a couple good knocks, and she's good to go. Grab the relay/wire bundle, tweak it this way and that, and the pumps will stop. So, I ended up pulling the unit out from under the seat, turning it over 180 degrees, and stuffed it back under there. 30 miles later, no problems as I tore up the local tarmack. Obiously a problem with the wires in the bundle. Gonna have to pull the seat again, and sort out this spawn of a female dog once and for all. Take note everyone....with all the relays and such that that impact fuel pump operation, don't forget to look under the seat if/when you're having problems.
