new RUf rims vs old RUF
i know a few people have bought the new Ruf Rims. whats a opinion on old vs new as far as value and nostalgia. it seems the old Ruf Speedlines were the "look" back then. are the new rims in that same discussion? looking at my options before i buy. i like the look of the Ruf on a slant.

Since the RUF wheels were not mass produced, this made the speedlines very desirable. It's a different scenario today, after all these years.
I have both Speedlines and the 2nd Gen Avus wheels. They are identical. The speedlines have the raised lettering (big whoop). In my opinion, if you can afford the brand spanking new RUF wheels, go for the Newbies .

I have the AVUS generation wheels - someone on this board weighed them when they came out, seem to recall they're slightly lighter than the Speedlines.
When Ruf began making the wheels again after many years, many were "WTF are AVUS" - and preferred the original Speedlines, because they'd heard of them. But AVUS have been around for years (1979) and make wheels for DTM racing and F1, as well as many other racing categories. Avus Racing :: Azienda Given that Ruf are a manufacturer based in Germany, I don't think they could offer them for sale if they were not TUV tested/approved. Which would mean that these would have passed the toughest testing/approval program in the world. There's also a 3rd generation of Rufs - apparently the current production run of Ruf Classics are not marked as AVUS. IMO, pretty much anything with the Ruf name on it is (a) not cheap (b) not junk. Just worth bearing in mind that original Speedlines could possibly have a lot of miles on them now.

I have an original set of Rufs that I purchased new in the late 80s. 17x9 and 17x10 - original painted centers with polished rims (both front and back)> I have Toyos mounted on these.
I am looking to sell these. Posted in the parts for sale thread. Let me know if anyone is interested. thanks, Mark
