Vas :

We haven't heard much from you lately !!! I hope everything is good with you.
Id like to see some pics of the new wheels if you got them.

Talking about the Sled half way around the world, they must be real bored this
time of the year. Let me know the name of the forum, I'd love to see what you
guy's are doing down under.

Alan :

Interesting you say that, I've been wondering the same thing myself. I do
know that once I'm up and going I'll move the Sled to the big garage upstairs.
I want to clean up the Sled Room and do some decorating down there. I have
a lot of things I could use to make it look nice and then I'll bring the car back
down.

In suppose there will always be little things I can do to detail everything
to keep me out of trouble.

Have you got everything ready for the track season ? I'd like to see more
in car video next spring.

The best to you my friend and tell your lovely wife I said hello !!!!

Cole

Well, Cole, it is just that when something like the Sled project becomes such a big part of your life, when it is done, you may find yourself in a void. Can't have that.
Raced last w/end - in the mid summer heat. Killer. Car going best it ever has. Sprayed iced water over the IC and it kept the IC temps right down. The driver could have done with some too.
Will check the camera and see if I got any useful footage (car still on trailer at moment).
Forgot to turn camera on first race, flat battery or something 2 nd race. Haven't checked the 3rd yet.
Keep well my man. This thread is a legend.
Regards
Alan

Come to think of it Cole, what are WE going to do when you get this finished? Hate to see this thread end really. It has become like the old time corner milk bar where 930 junkies can drop in and hang out and check your progress.
You have spawned a nice little community here. The 930 forum is full of nice guys, but it will be a shame if we don't find a way to keep this thread truckin on.
Regards
Alan

Alan:

I know what you mean this thread has done a lot for me. I always look forward
to updating it and getting the feedback from the group. It really helped keep me
going on the project and the great response and participation was like we all got it
built together and it just doesn't get any better than that. I even thought about
renaming the old girl "The Pelican"

I will continue the thread through the remainder of the build until we have a
completed car. I'm anxious to do a pic post of the car finished and on the road.

The whole project has been a testimonial to the Pelican Forum and especially
to all the great people that share a love of these old sleds. i will personally
always be grateful to everyone because when I started this I was still struggling
physically and all you guys kept me going. No one will ever know how much
all of you helped me and how much I appreciate it.

Hey, Cole.
I have been around this forum doing alot of reading.
The old tyres on the 16s are just about stuffed, so the 17s will go on soon.
Also in the process of buying another car to go with the 930.
Porsches are crazy expensive out here so I am taking my time.

Did you ever get the 934 manuals I sent you cleaned up ?

Uncle, good to see some pics of your car and work on here.
The guys on this forum will love it. (its bad ass)

Vas:

Good to see you here !!!!!!!

Another Porsche ?????? What are we going for this time. I'm thinking a
930 track car with 10,000HP

The manuals !!!!! Our first attempt helped darken a little but did not help
the contrast much. I talked to my daughter in law last nite and will be picking
them up this weekend. I am sending them off to a fellow Porsche freak that
has done a lot of photo shop type work and has the software and can work
on them to both darken and sharpen the contrast. He is going to put them
on disk when he's done and I will send you one. I'm sorry this has taken so
long but these are a cherished treasure to me and I am very protective as
far as who I entrust them to. I'll keep you posted on how the process is going.

You be well and good luck on the new Porsche find.

Cole

Well,Well !
Looks like crazy old Vas is popular all the sudden

Not sure how it all started, but both Cole and I are big 934 fans.
Cant remember if it was on the phone or on this forum we chatted about the rare 934 manuals.
Anyhow, I knew that some of the rare 934s came out here and I knew one of the Porsche mechs that worked on them. (same guy that works on my car)
I started asking around and found a set.
Just lucky as hell.
They only made 34 of these cars so I would not think that many manuals survived.
I let Cole know I had a set, I think he was as shocked as I was.

The guy that had them was good enough to let me make a copy.
The copy was not the best on the drawings (the best part)
We wanted the drawings as we were looking at how they had the CIS set up.
Of particular interest was the "cone" Porsche used as part of the set up.
See here, one of the best threads ever Information about the 934 CIS Injection

I sent the only copy to Cole.
Also the fact that after talking on the phone, I realised that we are half the world apart and thirty years age difference, but we talked as though the same age and lived next door.
Reading his thread, I can't think of anyone that should have something rare like that more. A real 934 fan.
A true gent.

Hope you don't mind me telling the story, Cole.

Guy's:

Vas was kind enough to get me the copies and entrust me with getting them
photo shopped so we can darken the print and sharpen the contrast. At this point
I promised my friend doing the work a copy for doing them and he is going to
get me two discs one for me and one for Vas. We have to understand there were
only 32-34 934's made and one set of manuals went to each new owner. Now if
we think about these being nearly 40 years old and taking into consideration
how many sets have been lost, ruined, or destroyed these are incredibly rare.

The copies we are working off of are not mine they belong to Vas and were
kindly sent to me for photo shopping. With that being as it is I, in all good faith,
cannot do anything except return the master disc to Vas. I have seen originals
sell for over $1000. You all know I'm old school and part of my old school is my
word is my bond, I told Vas I would return them and I hope everyone
understands that's what I have to do. But I will tell you they are way cool.

Uncle:

It's time to get your feet wet here, lets see some of that build !!!!!

Cole

Old coot update !!!!

Guy's, sorry to have fallen off the earth here but they put the Old Coot back
to work. I'm getting up at 4 AM and and working my Old ass off. I doing a large
year long project for GM at the Ft. Wayne assembly plant and I am presently up
to my ears in alligators. Consequently I'm not getting anything else done. I
will have this up and running late June and then things will be back to normal.

I just went to check out the tail last Sunday. This thing is an old 935 tail off
a late 70's race car and I have had it for years. Needless to say it needed a
little work, well, a lot more than a little. Bob has it looking like new and in primer
so it will be painted in the next day or so. We are hoping to get it on this
coming weekend. It is the very last thing to do and the Sled is done.

I will post some pics of the finished product as soon as it's done. When I get
time I will then do a nice presentation and include some video.

I love all you Bums and all of you have been a big part of this build. You've
made me laugh when I needed it and kicked my butt when I needed it. I
could not have done this without you. I sincerely thank all of you for your
support, criticism, suggestions, and wisdom.

Cole
