930 Fuel Pump Option?
I continue to have fuel pressure issues with factory type fuel pumps. Does anyone know an option using an american made fuel pump with regulators and pressure guage to replace the 930 two pump system? I have heard of this being done, but cant find any info on it.

If you're still running CIS there aren't too many pumps that can maintain the volume required at the 100+ psi pressure used by CIS. The main reason Porsche went with two pumps in series.
The stock system is actually pretty good, you just need to track down the problem. Could be plugged lines, plugged strainer in the tank, plugged filter, bad pumps, or even bad wiring and relays that don't let the pumps get the current they need.

any pumps you decide to replace use the Bosch 044 pumps, higher capacity and actually cheaper than the stock turbo pumps. Do a search here and you should be able to find the part number.

Before replacing the pumps, check the voltage to each pump vs. battery voltage, and check the grounds.
Not saying the pumps aren't bad -- they're at least 22 years old -- but check their power supply first. We have had cars pass through the shop with Aeromotive pumps, but they are ridiculously noisy, and not a big cost savings.

the best part is that you only need one bosch 044 pump .

It's close to 7bar of fuel pressure that is needed. I would not run only one 044.
If EFI that's another case! |
