911 (83) slant nose draggin!! HELP!

HELP! *Nose too low!? *What can I expect?

I must admit I am not a 911 fanatic but did fall hard for the toy I bought two weeks ago! *A pretty 1983 pearl white 911 convertible. *Oh yeah it has all those cute terms.. *Slant nose, wide body, whale tail, quick rev, euro something.. turbo 3.3 blah blah lol. * I will admit I bought it cause *she*was pretty lol. Shoot me I'm a girl!! She drives good and sounds purrrfect however I've had her for two weeks and been brave enough to take her out twice total an hour! *The nose hits everything!! *I'm terrified I'll rip I off! * Measured from ground to bottom is ALMOST 2 inches!! *Clearly too low! *

My question.. * If all the horror stories I read on here are true about raising it.. *Should I sell her and stick to jeep? * *How difficult is it to raise it and what should I expect to hear from the shop? *Am I looking at a complete suspension or are there magic screws to lift it???

*

You are in luck - your car is equiped with magic screws that will raise or lower the front.

Lot's of info on the 911 section. ==> 911 SC not level - higher in front

Take measurements of your center of the wheel arch to ground heights and bounce the suspension inbetween adjsutments. You may also need an alignment depending on your settings.
Hope this helps - and pics of your car are now required.

Search or imageshack on google, upload a few pics, copy the forum code and paste it into a new reply here.

Just saw your pictures in your Garage section. Your ride hight is fine, it looks like you have a front bumper off a 964. I looks pretty sweet but in the side shot you can see how much further down it hangs vs the rear. The wheel gaps look perfect so lifting it would kind of ruin the look. Tough position to be in, maybe some one will chime in with another thought. Worse case scenario would require you to change the the front bumper.

Looking at the pictures it does look a little low (looking at the distance to the top of the tires) but 1986911 is also right about the front bumper. You should check your ride hight per the factory method to see how far it is off. If you change the ride hight it will change the alignment as well as the way the car handles. You should find a competent shop to set the suspension back up.

I think you could adjust the front by one inch with out too much problems , You could take it to a shop and have them raise the whole car, the cost should be $600 incl alignment , It looks like it has been lowered before , Where do you live?

measure from the ground to the top of the wheel arches front and rear, and let me know what the numbers are then I'll tell where they should be

Wow! *Thanks for all the input!! * Okay.. *I live in Dallas, Texas... The car came from*California.. I measured looks like front is 24.25" *and back is 25.25". The tires on it are front p245 40zr 17 and back 285 40zr 17 100w.. *I know the front bumper has been changed. * My understanding of the car is the prior owner made many modifications clearly a *turbo nut everything's turbo LOL *930 engine, suspension, upgraded exhaust with RUF intercooler 930 transmission and drive train. * *I kinda think the dude must have thought he could show it however it's not of show grade in my opinion due to modifications lol * I have a 8am appointment *at the shop so we shall see! * I looked for the magic screws lol. I think I found em cept the cars too freaking low to reach em without a jack.. I'm so NOT that brave yet!
I did check the dealer I got it from and they have a 930 bumper I can get for about $700 but that I think would change the look I liked.*

Thanks again I will keep y'all posted!

Cool I own a home in San Antonio, lived there for a while, back to your car the back end is set at euro height which is low, but looks good, the front end should be half inch higher than the back to maintain the euro look, The rear at 25.25in the front at 25.75in , that's 1.5 inches higher in the front than you have NOW,

If you think that's still to low , then raise it so it's between US spec and Euro , Rear at 25.75 and front at 26.25 that way you can enjoy the car. If you have any other question
you can Email me also at helio.losee@yahoo.com good luck.
