k27 bracket

I have a turbo bracket to sell but I'm not sure if it is for a k27 or older turbo...can anyone help identify it?

And if someone verifies it I still want it.

Mark..no part # that I can find. Any idea where it is? You're still first in line..wanted to make sure what I had first. It does appear, based on a few other threads, that it is the later style but I have only seen one up close..this one.

Hopefully RarlyL8 chimes in. I think he knows the difference.

I have one that I bought some time ago, since there never was one on my car when I bought it (with stock 3LDZ turbo). But I'll be damned if I can find it! Hiding somewhere in my "box of spares". All I know is what I bought will not fit a K27. Someone awhile back posted a hack (literally, hack-cut-weld) a stock bracket to fit a K27. Pretty simple, which is what I planned on doing, but I about tore the shop apart looking for it. Gone, somebody must have stolen it My hope was to shoot a picture of what won't work for a K27.

That one looks like a 3LDZ. Is the right bottom hole (not pictured) slotted?

My 930 '81 stock bracket locked different.

No spacer here, but for my K27 bracket, I needed a spacer:

This edge looks closer to the drilling than stock:

Hmmm - lots of hub-bub about the bracket - I have one for sale that I bought new that had a 965 part number sticker on it - so that means it works with K-27s.. correct? No one seems to mind it in the FS section.

As Brian said in post #7, I believe that to be a 3ldz bracket based on its looks (seemingly identical to the 3ldz bracket I cut and welded to fit with my K27HF) . . . My original 3ldz bracket had the welded-on spacer that profighter has circled (though he says his did not) and I cut it off so I could use a "moveable" spacer to ease installation . . .

See...I knew somebody had cut and welded a bracket. It was Ronnie. Didn't you post some picts as well?

Mine had a K27 7006 installed when I bought it and that bracket had already had a vertical triangular section cut out of it and then the bracket was bent to fit the K27 and they welded it back together.

When I installed the same 7006 on a friends car I slotted the 2 bottom holes so the bolts or studs would line up and I cut off that spacer flush with the back of the bracket and had to slot that bolt hole a little too.

The spacer on the top left bolt has to be there when installing the bracket and turbo so the bolt went through the slightly slottled hole and then I put the spacer on the bolt behind the bracket.
The cut off wheel I used turns about 1/16" of the steel spacer into dust while cutting it off so I put a split lock washer that was about 1/16" thick on the bolt with the spacer to get the total spacer length back where it was when tightening the bolt or else it would pull the turbo closer to the engine case and change the alignment of the turbo charge pipe and stress the headers when tightening that top left bolt.

If you install a K27 7006 turbo the exhaust outlet hole after the turbine wheel is bigger than a 3LDZ or a K27 7200 so it's good to grind the exhaust hole in the bracket bigger so it doesn't restrict exhaust flow like a restrictor plate.
It is very hard steel and it takes a while to grind the hole bigger going around and around in a circle to match a scribed line with a grinding wheel on a die grinder.

See my FS add for pics of the K27 bracket... I can take more pics if needed or in case my bracket was mislabeled.

wow, so complicated just to find out if it's a 930 or 964T bracket.

Maybe more clarification is needed. As far as I know there are 3 types of bracket. There is also more than one type of K27. It is easy to tell the difference between a 3LDZ bracket and a K27-7006 bracket as the 7006 bracket has a larger hole (Jim pointed that out). It is very hard to tell the difference between a late 3LDZ bracket and a K27-7200 C2T bracket as they are identical. The early 3LDZ bracket has no spacer/tube welded on so it is unique in that regard. The spacing was also different as it was used with the "USA" exhaust system which had a Y-pipe instead of a J-pipe.

So without a part number there is no way to know until you try installing it I guess.

The part number is the same, it was superseded in 1991 by the 965 configuration.

I think the question you are trying to ask is does an OEM turbo bracket exist that will fit a 965 K27-7200 to a 930. The answer to that question is no.
