We should all start calling this guy and raising the bid via phone. LOL. And what the hell is a 30,000 mile "factory reseal" warranty?? Is that even something that is offered? There is no way a '76 is not gonna pee on the floor a little bit.

LOL... thanks. By the way, I will be more than happy to reseal anyone's motor for $30,000 and provide a 1 year warranty against leaks. Just don't ask me to fill it with oil.

Note the following quote:

"Completely unmolested and unaltered example"

Now note the boost gauge in the standard clock location in the dash. If a dealer (or anyone) is going to ask huge dollars for a car like this, then at least be knowledgable and accurate about it.

The other statement I liked was "one careful owner since 1978". That could be that there were a dozen not so careful owners between '76-'78.

If this car had 800 miles on it with that $30,000 magical reseal job, then perhaps someone would pay those dollars for a private museum piece.

Oh....and I will do engine reseal jobs for only $25,000, and throw in the oil.

I spoke with him on the other car he has on ebay the gold slant delete. no paperwork window sticker or COA from Porsche. Also tried to justify the $44k price with had to buy new motor as the original one was stuck from non use. he claimes that the new motor set him back about $25+ K. Now why not rebuild the original one for much less? also that the front was clipped with a snow plow so needed metal work and subsequent paint work. The inferior shop that did it used larger metal flakes so that is screwed up. now the blend will be further reaching and may be screwed up to the point that unless he can get the car to a better paint shop they will be going around the car to get a match. it was originally sold out of Aspen for around $15K on Ebay. Had I bought it and did it right it would be a $35K car, Now a $45k car with bad paint match and a changed motor. I think this guy has aquired some nice cars however knows very little about what is important for the price he wants.

You guys are harsh!! His is a rare example as one of if not the first ones available. It's featured on the covers of C&D as well as R&T and probably gave me my first boner. It's special for those reasons. Lets not forget that those early 930's were why many of us are on this porsche fixation in the first place.
Props for this fine example and if he can get it, good on him. I can see why, I wouldn't pay that much, I don't have that much, but I see why. I love it, I wish I had it and so do you. Your jeolous like I am.
Quit being haters

He can't. The auction will end with zero bids. I'd bet 190k on it.

Definitely jealous… I got more info from the guy, he has papers going on right now for the sale.
They made 6 US spec pre-production… 1 stolen, 1 used for crah test and 4 are left… this is one of them.
I guess that's what makes it very valuable.

is is a "special 930 and granted it isn't perfect. $190k is higha nd someone may really want the car...maybe the same person that dropped $1.4MM on the McQueen 911s.
