Has anyone back-dated a 3.3 distributor before?

While I decide which EFI to try, I would like to backdate my 3.3 distributor to use it without an ECU. I have a '77 car so I don't plan to update the wiring to match the stock '87 engine.

Concerns:
1. The '87 3.3 distributor has reversed the direction of the drive gear that was in my '77 2.7, so I can't use either at this point.

2. I don't have, nor want an ECU.

3. I'm not ready for a crank trigger system until I choose an EFI setup.

Any good suggestions?

All I want to do is make the 3.3 disty accept my simple MSD setup, or find an easy replacement.

Thanks!

No 3.3L 930 engine has an ECU. All 930 distributors use mechanical/vac/boost timing curves.

So my 2.7 wiring harness will work with the 3.3?

I guess I assumed that it wouldn't work because I don't see any points inside.

If so, thanks much!
Now I just need to wire it right.

I wonder where I can look for pics or diagrams for this swapover?
