What Next?

It's now been 4 weeks since I bought my 85. (I first posted photos 3 weeks ago). The car sat for 2+ years in a police impound. It started on the 3rd try after I had the battery on a charger for 20 mins. Lots of blue smoke but after 10 min on idle the smoke was gone and I drove it home. After I ran a tank of clean fuel through the engine I flushed the brakes lines and changed all the fluids. The car runs like a dream. What next?

Adjust the threaded rear wiper linkage rod so it's straight up and parallel to the left side of the rear window glass at rest and lower the car around 1.5-2 inches.

Lowering it will make the front wheels toe in so get a 4 wheel alignment done afterwards, or set up squared off string or fishing line around the car on jack stands at hub height and using a tape measure at 3 and 9 oclock on the rim edges do it yourself.
1/32"-1/64" toe in on each front wheel is good for street use.

Then really enjoy it.

For a car that sat two years on an impound lot, it looks amazingly nice. I especially like those Euro bumpers on the back--much better proportioned than the big galoots on the back of the US market cars. Have a blast.

Thanks guys. Air filter is clean and I changed the fuel filter. The car only has 43,000 miles on it so I was waiting on the plugs cap and rotor but just in case which plugs would you recommend? I'll adjust the rear wiper linkage but lowering the car might be out of my league. I'll ask my local car buddies about that one. Other than that I'm going to drive it like it was stolen.

Great looking car!
Yes I'd lower it a bit and enjoy!

Check for mouse houses too..... pesky critters tend make homes in cars that sit for long periods of time.

Nice find either way.

Don't know why, but at that angle that car screams for some 17 or 18 inch wheels, current rims and tires look too small.

Nice score!
