What is the 2 point connector in the steering lock arm?

Mine is disconnected at the moment and the wires seem to be violet and black.

I'm figuring out the reason for a short (melted) in a wire bundle below the fuse box and this white connector caught my eye while looking for the reason for the short. It's not the cause but I'd like to know the function behind it

Ignition switch elec. part looked fine and so did the light switch so I will keep looking.

That is your key warning buzzer contact. If it was hooked up, a relay located behind the dash would buzz if the key was in the ignition and a door was open or your seat belt was not latched. It is probably disconnected on purpose.

Thanks. No need for that.
