Heat Deflector Rear Bumper Delete

Is anyone successfully running without the rear bumper heat shield? I would like to run without the heat shield and the lower valance (gotta show off that RarlyL8 special). THe only thing that concerns me is it must have been put there for a reason... like not burning the paint off of the bumper! I am wondering if anyone has done this deletion and not had any negative effect on their bumper paint.
Thanks in advance!

I have the shield on mine and the paint is starting to crack and bubble. mine was painted in 2006. SO i wouldnt expect it to last long, you might want to modify it to work without the valence or make your own it's just a thin piece of aluminum sheet metal.

Here's my version with no heat sheild, valance or rubber seal between top of bumper and body. Plenty of room for heat to escape in hot Aussie summers and no paint discoloration ...

I thought it was for the converter

I only use the heat shield when the catalytic converter is in place. That thing gets pretty hot. With the B&B on (for the last three years) and no heat shield, the paint on the rear valance and bumper have been fine.

For street use the heat shield can be omitted. I removed mine years ago and replaced the valance with fiberglass one. No issues.
